“You were supposed to be my story. Instead, you changed mine.”

This book, the twist, that cover page! The author shares all the posts and we, the admirers read every possible review to get that nostalgia trip and clap “yes I noticed that as well”.

The book is a classic hitting the reality of Social Media bang in your face. I could predict a little in advance, didn’t turn pages multiple times but couldn’t help marveling and smiling over this piece of literature by a full-time father and a part-time author who struggles to balance both a kid and a laptop in his lap. Brownie points to him for writing a book this good at this stage of his life. If we can appreciate working mothers, he deserves equal admiration for this.

A disillusioned Anusha finds herself in the small world of WeDonate.com. Struggling to cope with her feelings and the job of raising money for charity, she reluctantly searches for a worthwhile cause to support. For Ananth, who has been on the opposite side, no life is less worthy, no cause too small to support. In front of them is the virtual world of social media-watching, interacting, judging, making choices, and sometimes, saving lives. From the virtual to the real, their lives and that of their families, entangle in a way that moving together is the only solution. They can’t escape each other.

A few takeaways I’d like to mention are –

The tweets by Gautam, deep down we all gasped yet enjoyed that part just like we’d in real life.

The photographs revealing a whole lot of people’s real –bare emotions, they lured me to be photographed that way.

That room being set up for Anusha moved me with the reality that we all crave for an exclusive space no matter how much we like to be in it.

This is no spoiler but those who’ve read this book would agree all of us hated that guy. I hated him more so because of his name. Do you get it? Oh the fictional combination of that name and sir name is as disastrous in fiction as it is non-fictionally.

I also loved the organization Durjoy built for this book, WeDonate.com! He portrayed very truthfully and impressively the art he has mastered, how stories are sold via this space. The magical tragedies words can create.

Initially, I thought it’d be an office romance and I should be ready with tissues to adore how cutely they switch places, fight and get mushy etc. But Wait. Oh no, give me those tissues. No, I can’t take it! What is it with the names? Never mind, pass that tissue box right away.
